Don’t trust everything you see or read online. Including this post.

Be skeptical. If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Because the reality is: Instagram looks like a superficial environment.

What it means to be successful has changed in today’s landscape.

Not everything you see on Instagram is true.

Many influencers will sell you on the idea of “perfection”

From relationships to wealth and physique, these standards are unattainable for most people. Including themselves.

This is why you’ll get ‘wannabes’ posing in front of rented cars, ‘couples’ arguing minutes before their lovey-dovey pictures are taken, or ‘gym rats’ finding the perfect angle to flex for their ripe shot.

Most of them don’t have it ‘perfect’ but they like to show as if they do.

And this has nothing to do with you.

It’s their fundamental insecurity — and the desire to seek social validation and approval from their peers. It’s their need to know that they’re above everyone else, at least online.

So don’t doubt yourself when you see people on the screen, posing like they’re having the time of their lives.

It’s all smoke & mirrors. Nothing really is what it seems like.

Another way to put this simply:

The Happiest people in the world don’t need to convince the world that they’re happy.

The Richest people don’t need to tell the world they’re rich.

The Kindest people in the world don’t need to blabber about the good deeds they did.

Let’s be real. People like you or I, have been affected by the notion that other people have it better than us.

And I’m sure we all have asked the real question before: Why can’t my life be like theirs?

‘All I need is their money, or their health, or their body, or their relationships, or their freedom. And I’ll be satisfied and content.’

Unfortunately, that’s not the way life works.

And then I read somewhere that says:

“If you are going to be jealous of someone, you must be willing to swap your entire life for theirs.

You can’t cherry-pick the aspect of their life you want.

You must give up everything you have and know.”

Would you afford to make the change?

Once again, we think that the grass is greener on the other side. In reality, it’s greener where we water it.

To add on, nobody ever tweets or post about their failures openly on social media.

Most of the images on this platform are largely an illusion designed to convince people into believing we’re solid. In actuality, when you’re satisfied with the way things are, you don’t need to convince anyone of anything.

You just need to keep doing what you’re doing. Trust in the slow and gradual process that you’ll achieve your goals and dreams, and work from there to improve the circumstance of your life.

Just don’t forget that not everything you see on Instagram is an accurate representation of how things are!
